The love between Yuri and Jade was something that didn't fade even though 10 years had passed them by without any contact. The horror that happened to Jade when she was a teenager where Yuri saved her. Then low and behold the same horror happens again . Calvin was a real psychopath who hot away with alot of terrible things.Very good story.
Jade and Yuri started out as high school sweethearts. Due to her parents involvement in who she dated she had to take Calvin who turned out to be a not so nice guy. Jade comes up missing after prom. No one suspects Calvin but gives Yuri a hard time. But Yuri and his Russian friends steps up and finds Jade in a cave where Calvin and friends left her overnight.Her abortive parents don’t believe her story so she “ghost†at 18 years old to New York.She becomes a success in the 10 years she’s there but she feels that the past is still haunting her. She contacts Yuri. Both have been in a holding pattern because neither can get over each and find a new love. But Jade’s safety is something Yuri takes very serious.This was another great read in this mafia series. Of course there are cameos from some of our other favorite gangsters.
I actually enjoyed this book. It was equal parts murderer/stalker/psycho and romance. A little too narrative, but great main man and supporting men who could carry their own stories. I would have liked more live action scenes between the H and h, and less telling of their love story. I love a good Alpha Ruskie with a softer side. That strategy of letting former job captains retire was not realistic, but I wasn't mad at the premise. This is truly better than the 1 and 3 🌟 reviews, so I gave it a four to show that.
There was a lot less romance in this book, although I still enjoyed reading it, it was leaned more in the danger, intrigue, and suspense nature than romance. I still would like to see a book about Tony Nash and would like to see his father be proud of him. The editing was a bit slippery, Viktor’s became Victor, Mikael was Michael a few times. I did not realize that Viktor was that mature for Yuri to be thought of as a “son†to him and he was portrayed to have gray hair. He was not portrayed as mature in the first book and it appeared as if this was the time before they moved to Florida. At first I thought they were talking about Viktor’s father and I forgot his name, but no it was him because he was the one married to Don Nash’s daughter.
